What is Pramlintide?
Synthetic analog of pancreatic amylin, FDA-approved as Symlin® for diabetes. The reference compound for amylin biology.
Listed vial contents: 5mg. These are supplied quantities, not administration doses. Current pricing and availability are shown in the strength selector.
What mechanisms are being studied?
Pramlintide is a 37-amino acid synthetic analog of human amylin with proline substitutions at positions 25, 28, and 29 to prevent amyloid aggregation. It acts at amylin receptors (AMY1-3) to slow gastric emptying, suppress postprandial glucagon secretion, and promote satiety via hindbrain area postrema signaling.
What are the research questions?
- Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes: FDA-approved (Symlin®, 2005) as adjunct to mealtime insulin for postprandial glucose control.
- Weight management research: Off-label studied for weight reduction either alone or with leptin (combination has shown 12.7% weight loss in Phase 2).
- Reference amylin compound: Used in mechanistic studies as the benchmark amylin agonist.
What does the published work describe?
Whitehouse F et al. (Diabetes Care 2002) — sustained HbA1c reduction in T1D. Ravussin E et al. (Obesity 2009) — pramlintide+metreleptin produced 12.7% weight loss at 24 weeks vs 8.4% pramlintide alone. ~20-minute plasma half-life requires mealtime dosing.
What are the limits of this evidence?
The research described concerns the cited experimental materials and models, not proof that this supplied vial is a treatment. Cell or animal findings do not establish human benefits. Clinical findings, where cited, apply to the tested formulation and population; they do not validate this research product for human use.

How should I check lot documentation?
Match the product, strength and lot to an original analysis document. Literature describes experimental findings; it does not verify the contents of this inventory. A report is evidence only for the product, strength and lot it names.
How is Pramlintide handled in the lab?
Plan a Pramlintide stock solution from the sequence, the listed molecular weight (3949.40 g/mol) and, when reported for the same lot, net peptide content. Test-dissolve a small portion first, store the powder sealed, cold and dry, and split solutions into single-use aliquots. These are laboratory handling notes, not administration guidance.
Research Use Only. Not for human consumption, therapeutic, veterinary or any in-vivo use.
