What is PE-22-28?
Blocks TREK-1 potassium channel for rapid antidepressant-like effects.
Listed vial contents: 8mg. These are supplied quantities, not administration doses. Current pricing and availability are shown in the strength selector.
What mechanisms are being studied?
PE-22-28 is a 7-amino acid peptide that acts as a specific antagonist of the TREK-1 potassium channel. TREK-1 is highly expressed in the brain and implicated in mood regulation — TREK-1 knockout mice display a robust antidepressant phenotype. By blocking TREK-1, PE-22-28 produces rapid antidepressant-like effects and promotes hippocampal neurogenesis.
What are the research questions?
- Depression (treatment-resistant): Rapid antidepressant mechanism fundamentally different from SSRIs.
- Neurogenesis: Promotes new neuron growth in hippocampus — the brain region most affected in depression.
- Anxiety: TREK-1 antagonism has anxiolytic properties in preclinical models.
What does the published work describe?
Mazella J et al. — PE-22-28 (spadin) produced rapid antidepressant effects in behavioral despair and anhedonia models within 4 days (vs 2-3 weeks for SSRIs). Promoted hippocampal neurogenesis. Increased BDNF levels.
What are the limits of this evidence?
The research described concerns the cited experimental materials and models, not proof that this supplied vial is a treatment. Cell or animal findings do not establish human benefits. Clinical findings, where cited, apply to the tested formulation and population; they do not validate this research product for human use.

How should I check lot documentation?
Match the product, strength and lot to an original analysis document. Literature describes experimental findings; it does not verify the contents of this inventory. A report is evidence only for the product, strength and lot it names.
How is PE-22-28 handled in the lab?
Plan a PE-22-28 stock solution from the sequence, the listed molecular weight and, when reported for the same lot, net peptide content. Test-dissolve a small portion first, store the powder sealed, cold and dry, and split solutions into single-use aliquots. These are laboratory handling notes, not administration guidance.
Research Use Only. Not for human consumption, therapeutic, veterinary or any in-vivo use.
