What mechanisms are being studied?

Follistatin 344 (FS-344) is a glycoprotein isoform that binds and neutralizes members of the TGF-β superfamily — most notably myostatin (GDF-8) and activin A. By sequestering myostatin away from the ActRIIB receptor, follistatin removes the dominant negative-feedback brake on skeletal muscle growth, permitting hypertrophy and reducing fibrosis.
