Adamax FAQ
Answers on mass spectrometry, purity documentation and stacking for the two Adamax constructs — written so the measured evidence and the open questions stay separate.
Short answer: “984 Da” and “1032 Da” are rounded molecular-mass labels for two different specified Semax-family constructs, not two strengths of one compound. A mass reading supports an identity claim only when it is matched to a written construct and a lot record, and a purity figure answers a separate question again. Stacking and potency claims for Adamax remain untested hypotheses.
The two specified constructs
| Specification | Adamax 984 Da | Adamax 1032 Da |
|---|---|---|
| Specified sequence | Ac-Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro-Ala-Gly-OH | Ac-Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro-Adamantylglycine-NH₂ |
| Formula | C₄₄H₆₁N₁₁O₁₃S | C₅₀H₆₉N₁₁O₁₁S |
| Average mass | Approximately 984.1 Da | Approximately 1032.2 Da |
| Terminal chemistry | Ala-Gly extension; free-acid C-terminus | Adamantylglycine; amidated C-terminus |
| Adamantane | No adamantane group in the specified structure | Specified adamantane-based terminal modification |
Both catalog products contain 5mg per vial. A high purity result does not by itself identify the construct or establish the quantity in a vial.
Mass spectrometry & identity
What do “984 Da” and “1032 Da” mean on an Adamax product?
Da means dalton, the unit used for molecular mass. The number is a rounded mass label for a specific structure — it is not a strength and not the amount of powder in the vial. PeptidesDirect sells Adamax 984 Da and Adamax 1032 Da as separate products, each containing 5mg per vial, because the two labels describe different molecules.
How does mass spectrometry separate the two Adamax constructs?
Liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS) measures the mass-to-charge ratio of ionised molecules, so two different structures register at different positions. The specified 984.1 Da and 1032.2 Da molecules sit roughly 48 Da apart. That gap is the net difference between two complete molecules — an Ala-Gly free-acid tail versus an adamantylglycine amide tail — not the weight of one group simply bolted on.
Is a mass spectrometry result enough to confirm identity?
No. Mass alone cannot prove a sequence. Different structures can share a similar mass, and a mass reading does not show which residues are present or where a modification sits. A defensible identity assignment needs the target construct written out — sequence, formula and terminal modifications — plus the observed mass with its charge states, the calculated value for comparison, and documentation that matches the lot in hand.
Why can’t I rely on the name “Adamax”?
Adamax is a research-market name, not a standardized chemical identity. Vendor formulas and secondary write-ups disagree, and some suppliers have used the name for N-Acetyl Semax Amidate, a separate material near 855 Da. There is no single official Adamax structure and almost no independent peer-reviewed literature on Adamax itself. Buy against a written construct — sequence, formula and expected mass — never against a label.
Is Adamax the same as Semax or N-Acetyl Semax Amidate?
No. Semax is the parent heptapeptide Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro. N-Acetyl Semax Amidate is a modified Semax near 855 Da. The Adamax products sit further out: the 984 Da construct adds an Ala-Gly extension with a free-acid C-terminus, while the 1032 Da construct carries a C-terminal adamantylglycine amide. These are different molecules and are not interchangeable.
Average mass or monoisotopic mass — which one should match?
Peptide specifications usually quote an average molecular mass, while a mass spectrometer reports the mass of individual ions. Both are useful, but a report should say which figure it is showing. PeptidesDirect lists average mass near 984.1 Da and 1032.2 Da for the two Adamax constructs. Any matching lot evidence should state the measured value and how it compares with the calculated value.
Purity & documentation
What does the ≥99% purity figure actually tell me?
Purity is normally measured by HPLC and reported as the share of detected peak area belonging to the main component. It says how much of the measured material is one peak. It does not identify which molecule that peak is, and it does not confirm how much powder the vial holds. The Adamax listings carry a ≥99% purity specification.
Is there a lot report available for Adamax?
No lot-specific Adamax report is currently linked to the Adamax product pages, so those pages present catalog specifications and research context only. Where a compound does have an available report, it is linked from that product and shows HPLC purity, LC-MS identity and concentration for the corresponding lot. Example or illustrative reports are labelled as samples and are not results for a vial you received.
What should I check on any peptide analysis report?
Match the paperwork to the vial before you read the numbers. Check the product name and the construct or sequence, the lot identifier on the report and on the carton, the HPLC method and purity result, the LC-MS observed mass against the calculated mass, the stated quantity, and the issue date. The guide to reading a certificate of analysis explains each field and where reports fall short.
Does high purity tell me which Adamax I received?
No. Purity and identity are separate measurements. One clean HPLC peak shows a dominant component, not that the component is the 984 Da construct rather than the 1032 Da construct or another Semax-family material. Identity needs a mass assignment tied to a written construct, and quantity needs its own assay. Treat purity, identity and quantity as three separate questions.
Stacking & research context
Is Adamax stacked with P21 or Methylene Blue?
Online discussions describe pairing Adamax with P21 or with Methylene Blue, and Adamax is also mentioned alongside other Semax-family peptides. PeptidesDirect publishes no stacking protocol, and no peer-reviewed study tests those combinations. P21 evidence comes mostly from the inventor’s own group, and one independent attempt to reproduce its BDNF finding failed. Stacking Adamax is therefore untested, and every product here is an in-vitro research material.
Does the adamantane modification make Adamax stronger or longer acting?
That is a hypothesis, not a result. The adamantane cage in the 1032 Da design is intended to raise fat solubility and slow exopeptidase breakdown, a rationale borrowed from P021 research on a different peptide. No pharmacokinetic study compares Adamax with N-Acetyl Semax Amidate, and no human clinical research on Adamax was identified. Claims about crossing the blood–brain barrier, lasting longer, being a “Super Semax”, or lifting endurance by 2–3× remain unverified.
Has Adamax been tested in humans?
No human clinical research on Adamax was identified, and sellers themselves concede that most reported effects are extrapolated from the parent peptide without independent controlled validation. Semax has a stronger background: rat studies on BDNF and TrkB signalling, one non-randomized 2018 study in 110 post-stroke patients, and registration in Russia for ischemic stroke. Semax has never been approved by the FDA or EMA, and none of those findings transfer to Adamax.
What is the regulatory position on Adamax?
New Zealand’s Medsafe has proposed classifying all ACTH analogues as prescription medicines and named Adamax and Semax specifically. In the United States, the 503A advisory committee voted 8–5 to recommend Semax for the bulk-substance list, staff recommended against it, and formal rulemaking would still be required. Adamax was not under review, so it has no compounding pathway. PeptidesDirect sells it strictly as a Research Use Only laboratory material.
Can Adamax be used in humans or animals?
No. Every PeptidesDirect product, including both Adamax constructs, is sold for in-vitro laboratory research only. It is not for human consumption, therapeutic use, veterinary use, or any in-vivo application. This page does not provide dosing, reconstitution or administration guidance.
